He wished he could have gotten her something but if she didn’t really want anything then he wouldn’t force her by any means. He too wondered when she was expected at her employer’s and wouldn’t want to make her late either, in case she got in trouble. Though if she were to be fired, whether his fault or not, Hawke already in his mind would be ready to find her another job. He barely knew her perhaps but he took it upon himself to help anyone he merely just said hello too. He had a good sense about people, he was trained to be that way of course but he felt it was also just his personality. He had a good feeling about Georgia and she was someone he would want to protect if she needed it. He would make sure to look out for her best interests.

Her help him? Intriguing “I do not wish to make you late” Though he also had never had a woman’s help before in choosing something for Cece. Well, he knew women, but those women were typically brash or prostitutes or had crushes on him, so they weren’t the best to ask their opinion about the woman he was seeing and in love with. He paused to think, laughing a bit in embarrassment. He had never been asked to describe her before, he wasn’t sure how too. She was just…wonderful, but he knew that wasn’t a proper description. “Um…” He rubbed the back of his head “She is…kind. And, sweet and very independent and bold” He chuckled at that “She seems quite simple in her tastes, but are any women truly simple?” He joked.

Preconceived Notions - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Preconceived Notions   Preconceived Notions - Page 2 EmptyTue May 14, 2013 4:44 pm

Georgia realized with shock and a little bit of alarm that she didn't really mind if she were late. Not if it meant that she would be able to help Hawke. "I think I will be alright... this is important" she said. And it was important. True, material goods weren't everything and they probably weren't anything compared to what Hawke and his Lady shared emotionally but they couldn't hurt and it was a kind gesture. Also, Georgia had already made up her mind to help Hawke in some way and if this was the way to do it, then she would be glad to do her best to help.

She smiled at his joke, though really she didn't think anyone was simple. It was the whole point of people, they were so complex and unique, everyone had a different view on things and though peoples' views may be similar, no one agreed on absolutely everything. There was always something that set each person apart, some were cunning some were shy some were clever some were strong some were weak some were mean and some were kind. There were so many different and intricate people in the world that Georgia found it fascinating to think on. This is what also mad her realize, however, that she had no idea what Hawke's lady would like in terms of a gift. She had no idea what taste was good taste in fact, never being a very material person herself. Georgia pondered this as she looked around the shops. What would a woman like? She herself was particularly fond of looking at jewelry, the lovely little gems never failed to catch her eye just as they caught the sun, they always seemed to have some grand secret to tell her. You couldn't really go wrong with Jewelry but then there were also flowers... the beautiful thing about flowers was that they were alive. Georgia always thought she heard them whispering to her when they blew in the wind. Now here was a conflict indeed. "Ah... perhaps flowers... or a necklace maybe? Flowers die though... I suppose you could bring her flower seeds, then she could plant them in a garden." Flower seeds? Really? Georgia felt like kicking herself. What kind of gift were flower seeds? Well, she liked to think that someone might bring her flower seeds to start a garden but then she had to admit she had strange tastes and she didn't think most women would appreciate something such as that.

He smiled and found her response rather adorable Important, huh?” He questioned with a smile. She thought helping pick out a gift for Cece was more important than not being late for her job? She was quite an endearing thing wasn’t she, not the way he had perceived the Rivenese to be like but perhaps that was why she could not get married there, she wasn’t anything like them and had found comfort with the leader’s wife because she too wasn’t Rivenese and was different. And Hawke himself was different then from other Uru solider’s, perhaps that was why they seemed to be getting along quite well themselves. He too was fascinated with the complexity of people, he found that it was a good thing but also dangerous. The differences between the Ages had caused war and caused poverty in Uru itself. Perhaps if everyone was the same there would be peace and equality among all the Ages, but that seemed quite a big sacrifice to make, for everyone to be same.

He had brought Cece flowers before, though they had always been just wildflowers and nothing fancy from a shop. Jewelry was a good idea as well, he had never gotten her jewelry, but Georgia’s third idea quite intrigued him “Flower seeds…that is actually a wonderful idea” He said, impressed. He didn’t know if Cece liked to garden, but the idea was a good one to him. Something that could grow and she could nurture, a gift that wouldn’t lose its appeal after a week. Yes, he very much liked the idea of giving her flower seeds. Maybe Cece would stare at him and think he was an idiot or maybe she’d be touched by the creativity “I think I will do that. That is very creative of you to think of such a gift” He chuckled “I would never, ever think of giving flower seeds” He was a very in the box thinker and Cece was very out of the box, so he thought this gift idea could work very well.

Preconceived Notions - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Preconceived Notions   Preconceived Notions - Page 2 EmptyThu May 16, 2013 11:04 am

Georgia was more than a little surprised to hear Hawke so impressed with her idea of flower seeds as a gift. She had expected him to laugh and politely agree to one of her other suggestions but he had jumped right on the suggestion of flower seeds. Georgia smiled shyly, she was glad that he thought it such a good idea she just hoped that his Lady would think so too. She didn't want to get him in trouble with her if she did not appreciate the gift, but as he was enthusiastic about it she decided not to press the issue and focus on finding out where to get flower seeds.

"We could try a flower shop..." she mused aloud. It made sense didn't it? To find flower seeds in a flower shop. Yet there was something off about the idea. That thing being that she didn't think flower shops actually sold flower seeds. When one thought about it, it was a rather absurd thought that flower shops wouldn't sell flower seeds but Georgia could not, for the life of her, ever recall going into a flower shop where they did sell merely seeds. They were bound to be cheaper than the flowers themselves though. Perhaps it was worth a try.

Hawke had no idea if a flower shop would sell seeds or not. He was clueless that way, only place he had ever really shopped was the market in Eder Kemo where merchants of all kinds were lined up selling their wares. In Teledahn he had never really bothered to pay attention to shops, when he had worked here as a teenager he had been paying attention to the person he was meant to be guarding, not the stores they were dragging him into. So if she said they should try a flower shop first well he assumed since was she a woman she would know these things far better than he did so he merely smiled and nodded “Alright” He trusted her opinion.

It made sense to him as well that a flower shop would have seeds, wouldn’t they? He motioned for her to show him the way “I have not traveled in Teledahn for some time. I am not sure where the closest flower store would be” He had no idea where anything was in Teledahn except the castle and a few aristocrat’s homes, other than that he did not navigate it anywhere near as well as he did Eder Kemo.

Preconceived Notions - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Preconceived Notions   Preconceived Notions - Page 2 EmptyFri May 17, 2013 7:52 am

Luckily, Georgia knew Teledahn like the back of her hand. Even though she had only been working in Uru for a few months she had trailed after her mistress on errands countless times and she often ran errands for her employers on her own. Not only that but in the first few weeks of her stay she spent all her free time exploring Teledahn and getting to know ever detail of the city. Now that she knew Teledahn she was interested in Eder Kemo and Kadish. She did not know either of those places well at all but she was eager to learn and get to know them. Georgia started off down the street at a trot, the nearest flower shop luckily was just around the corner.

As Georgia approached the shop she suddenly wondered if it would even be open this late. In fact, she doubted whether any of the shops in Teledahn were open at this time. It had not occurred to her before because until just a few moments ago she had not planned on entering any of the shops. How could she be so foolish as to not keep track of the time and take that into consideration?

Hawke may have not known much about how to get around Teledahn, but he did know some trade secrets. Some stores closed early and some later and soldiers had quite an advantage when it came to getting what they wanted. He never exerted this power, not like some other soldiers who abused their status to boss people around and get what they wanted, but he felt this evening was a special occasion and it wouldn’t hurt to use a little of his status power. As they approached the store he could see the shop keeper inside was turning down the lights and getting ready to close up. Taking the opportunity he smiled at her and quickly ushered them near the door and opened it. The shopkeeper turned with a scowl, ready to kick them out, but when he saw Urun soldier he paused.

“Sorry to come so late. Do you mind staying open a few minutes longer? We’re trying to find something” Hawke asked and the shopkeeper nodded, obviously not pleased about it but no one said no to a soldier, especially not in Teledahn. Hawke looked to Georgia and winked with a grin, finding he enjoyed exerting his power in Teledahn a bit too much. "We are looking for flower seeds" Hawke mentioned and the shopkeeper blinked confused "Flower...seeds?" The man questioned and Hawke nodded, looking to Georgia because he was clueless if there was some certain way to approach this.

Georgia was surprised that Hawke had used his status as a soldier to keep the store open. She had not expected him to act so typical of normal soldiers after she had seen him act so different this whole time. She was not, however, disappointed in him or even disgusted or appalled, she could tell he didn't do it often, in fact she wouldn't be surprised if he told her this was the first time he'd done it and she felt that this was a special occasion and an exception could be made.

As for going about getting flower seeds, Georgia was just as clueless as Hawke. The shop keeper looked thoroughly irked at them for coming in so late and requesting something so ridiculous. He looked as though he thought they were joking and when Hawke turned to Georgia to take the lead she froze a moment then looked around the shop. "Ah... surely you must have flower seeds... this being a flower shop? We... We do not wish for any flowers but we will gladly pay for seeds..." she said awkwardly.

The shopkeeper wanted to throw them out, but no one threw out an Uru solider, no one even dared speak harshly to know because it always drew unwanted results. However if the shop keeper insisted they leave he wouldn’t argue, but since he was somewhat tolerating them in his store then he was going to linger a little longer until they perhaps got what they came for. However at the shop keepers obvious confusion Hawke wondered why. The shop keeper sighed heavily and was very much annoyed that they had come in not even wanting actual flowers. “This is not a market. It says flower shop. Not flower seed shop” He grumbled and Hawke gave him a disapproving frown, which quickly reminded the man he better watch what he said. Hawke didn’t think he needed to be so rude, especially infront of a lady.

“I have some seeds I suppose. I do not sell them however” The shop keeper finally said and Hawke shrugged some “Could you make an exception?” The man didn’t look pleased, he felt there were too many exceptions happening but Hawke felt it was harmless. The man was just being a grump for no reason, it wasn’t like Hawke was asking him to go out and dig up seeds for him. The man sighed “Let me go, look in the back…” He muttered and turned away from them. Hawke crossed his arms and looked to Georgia “He seems like such a warm man, doesn’t he?” He murmured to her, chuckling a bit. A few minutes later the man returned with a small pouch “This is all I have. I do not even know what seeds they are” He said with the same grumpy attitude but Hawke merely nodded “They will work. “ He untied a pouch from his side with some coins to pay for them, but first he looked around and plucked a white flower near him “This as well” He said, giving Georgia a smile and handed her the flower.

Georgia smiled and giggled a little at Hawke's jest. She had never been one to engage in sarcasm but she found this lighthearted irony endearing and amusing. She was a little sorry that they seemed to be disturbing the shopkeeper so but she did not see the harm in it. People could get so fussy over flowers, especially people in Teledahn. They always wanted everything to be perfect and if even one petal was out of place they were prone to tantrums and hissy fits. Georgia had witnessed this many times and it always alarmed her to see such elegantly dressed people act so rude and unseemly. She thought that after this, a simple request for seeds, any seeds, would seem a relief to the shopkeeper but he seemed more irked than if her employer had come in demanding a flower that was not in stock.

How different this evening is turning out to be! Georgia thought. How strange it was that Hawke should give her a flower when he was only taking flower seeds back to his lady. She found the thought of it absurd, amusing, and alluring because it was new and what was new was always wonderful in Georgia's mind. She took the white flower and tucked it behind her ear so that it sat peacefully among her hair. She smiled slightly as she looked at the little pouch that was carrying the seeds, she wondered what they would become when they grew. "They are wait-and-see seeds," she said softly, smiling. She really hoped that Hawke's lady would like them.

Hawke didn’t feel so bad in bothering the man. Maybe if he was a little kinder he would feel sorry but since the man wanted to be rude Hawke wasn’t too choked up about it. Teledahn just got under his skin, if it wasn’t because he was nice and escorting Georgia he wouldn’t step foot near here for hopefully another ten years. He was glad though that Georgia seemed to be amused by his jesting and he thought she deserved the flower that he picked. Even though she had said she didn’t want anything he still wanted to give her something, even something as simple as a flower. Girls liked flowers, he was pretty sure they all did didn’t they? A little bright spot to her day that she could carry home with her.

He grinned at her name for the seeds “I like that” Once again he was impressed by the girl’s creativity. He just could not think of things like that off the top of his head, it amazed him when people had such an expansive and out of the box mind “That’s what I will tell Cecelie they are called.” After he paid he bid the man farewell and left the shop, holding the door open for her before he turned to her “Well, I suppose we should continue you home” He chuckled “We got off track”

They certainly had gotten off track. Georgia did not know the exact time but she was sure that by this point she was very late. She did not mind so much though, after all she had gotten of track to help Hawke pick something out for his lady... Cecelie, as he had called her. It was a very pretty name. Georgia imagined a tall, stately woman with long black hair and dark eyes. She imagined a woman as pretty as her name and she imagined Hawke there beside her to care for and protect her. She liked to think of that and she was glad that she could help Hawke to give his beloved a gift, simple and unusual though it was.

"Thank you for the flower," she said as the left the shop. And her hand flew to the lovely trinket behind her ear. She still thought it odd that she should be the receiver of such a gift but she would not complain or protest for that would seem rude and she was ever wary of being polite. Georgia started off down the street, she was now beginning to get very eager to be at her employer's for she was very tired and sleep would do her good. She also knew that while she could simply collapse on the little bed provided to her, Hawke still had to make the journey back to Eder Kemo and to Cecelie before the night was over. The sooner she got to her destination, the sooner he would get to his.

Preconceived Notions - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Preconceived Notions   Preconceived Notions - Page 2 EmptyWed May 22, 2013 11:46 pm

Since Hawke had met Cece, he started to wonder about fate and things happening for a reason. Before Cece he had never thought of those things and believed them even less. Anything that had to do with magic or fairytales or divine intervention he could never seem to wrap his head around, none of it seemed possible to be true. Meeting the woman he loved however had changed some of his point of views and he started to wonder if there really was something called fate and wondered what controlled it. Meeting Cece he started to wonder if it was fate, and now everyone he met after made him question fate as well, like meeting Georgia. Had he merely met her by mere coincidence or had he met her for a specific reason?

As they continued there walk curiosity overcame him again and he couldn’t help but want to ask questions. After visiting Riven he had become far more curious about it and had never spoke with a Rivenese that was so open to speaking to others “I heard that in Riven there are large creatures in the ocean, like giant fish, with teeth and horns. Is that true?” He had heard of such beasts but couldn’t imagine something like that could exist. All that seemed to exist in Uru was expansive land and mountains around them, they had no ocean so trying to think of some ferocious beast living in water was a bit laughable to him.

Georgia also often wondered about fate and Gehn's master plan. She had heard that He saw all and knew all and had a divine plan for the entire world, all the Ages, not just Riven, but she often wondered if He actually did. This was in no offense to Gehn, however, she merely found it highly improbable that anyone, even a god, could plane the fate of the world for all eternity. Georgia thought it more believable that Gehn did have a plan but that He was making it up as He went along, she believed that His decisions were determined by the lives of the people that He created, she believed that their decisions influenced His.

How strange that Hawke would ask about Wahrks. It occurred to Georgia that such a creature might seem fanciful to someone from another Age, especially someone from Uru where there were not any oceans, but the question still surprised her a little as it seemed random. Still, Georgia herself was often inclined to random pursuits so she did not mind and the question did not altar her perception of Hawke. "Yes, they are called Wahrks," she answered. "They are very dangerous though and they cause a lot of problems for fishermen."

Hawke had odd curiosities, certain things fascinated him that perhaps others never cared to think about. How like in J’nanin people were afraid of some type of bird that had big teeth, it seemed like fairytales to him, but then again people heard of the Bahro’s in Uru just the same as he thought of these other creatures from other Ages. Bahro’s were just a story in Uru in Hawke’s opinion, but other people believe they lived. Hawke didn’t believe in anything he couldn’t see with his own eyes, but he supposed the best person to ask was someone who had possibly seen what he hadn’t. He was curious of Riven since his shore venture there and had heard about Wahrk’s often, he couldn’t think such a thing existed.

He looked surprised when she confirmed they were real and his brow furrowed “They are not stories? You have seen one?” He just couldn’t imagine such a beast, he just couldn’t “It cannot be true that people are fed to them, is it?” He had heard Rivenese sacrificed people to Wahrk’s, though some said it was an old way and yet others that say it still occurred.

Come to think of it, Georgia had never actually seen a Wahrk except for in books and paintings. However, she had heard many stories and she had seen the damage they did to fishing boats. No, Wahrk's definitely existed, no one doubted this in Riven and she was glad that she had never encountered one. It seemed odd to wonder about the existence of Wahrk's and more probably to wonder on the existence of something such as a Golden Beetle, which many people said were legend. However, Georgia almost relied on that which she had not or could not see. It left room for discovery and where there was discovery there was wonder and fascination. There had been an incident once, when she was very young though, she had gotten lost on Jungle island once when she was there to witness the arrival of Lorelei. She had wandered the forest, slightly frightened when on a tree she had sworn she saw a Golden Beetle. However when she moved to get a closer look to bug flew away, but shortly after she was found and brought to safety. When she told her parents they did not believe her and indeed, most people disregarded the tale as the ravings of a child's imagination.

Again, she caught Hawke's question a little late and hastened to reply. "No, I have never actually seen a Wahrk, but I have never been in deep enough water to be close to where they live, and I have seen what they can do to fishing boats." the question about sacrifices startled Georgia, she had always looked on the practice as horrific and barbaric and she thought that everyone knew it had been ceased long ago. Where there still rumors flying around in other Ages? "That was a very old practice that took place when the false Gehn ruled over Riven, we do not sacrifice people anymore." she said politely. Her mind then moved to the mythical Bahros of Uru. She had never seen one of those either, but she believed in their existence.

He wondered what went on in her head when she paused so much after he asked a question. Was she thinking how to respond? Thinking of something else? Hawke’s own mind never wandered, daydreaming was quickly beaten out of you in training as a soldier, and there was no room for hesitations which he supposed that had stripped him of any creativity as well. He didn’t mind however that she seemed to drift off in her thoughts, Cece did it from time to time where it seemed her mind went off with her. He had no idea what it felt like to do that, but he wouldn’t judge someone for it, he was actually a bit jealous that his own mind did not go off on fantastical tangents.

So Wahrk’s existed according to her…interesting. They seemed like such a fairy tale, but she seemed quite earnest in her reply that they were real but still he couldn’t imagine such a beast. He saw her expression when he asked about the sacrificing and frowned, wondering if perhaps he shouldn’t have asked that but it was something that had always bugged him about Riven and he never knew if it was true or not. “Well that is good to know. Many people still say it happens” At least that helped improve his perception of Riven a bit more than it had been. Now he felt far more informed and Hawke liked being informed, he could now correctly tell people the truth about Wahrk’s and sacrificing if he ever had too.

They were coming very near her employer's home now indeed and Georgia felt a slight foreboding at this. Strangely, she still did not feel worried about being fired. It was almost as if she had resigned herself to the fact that she would be. She focused on the possibility of being fired and the emotions she felt at thinking about it but no matter how hard she thought about the consequences that would come with being fired, she could not find the emotion of worry within her. It simply was not there, instead there was a certain calmness which she had never felt before. A willingness to take whatever might come and not let it worry her. Besides, if she lost her job then what could she do about it? She was late, she knew she was late, and she had taken her time in getting here, she had brought this on herself so why worry when it was inevitable. If she did lose her job she could simply look for work elsewhere or go to another Age or maybe even go home.

Georgia looked up at Hawke as they walked and wondered if this new found sense of security she felt was because of him. It certainly made sense, that was what Urun soldiers were for after all, security, and Hawke was the only honorable one she had met so perhaps the safe feeling was not so unusual. She smiled softly at this thought and then a question came to her mind. "What about Bahros?" she said suddenly. "Do they exist, have you seen any? I heard they used to inhabit Uru before humans, I heard they are the native tribe." Georgia was exceedingly interested to hear what Hawke had to say on the matter, he did not seem like the type to entertain fantasies but that only made the prospect of his reply more fascinating. She felt that Hawke's was an opinion she could value, even if it differed from her own.

If Georgia had seemed panicked or anxious he would have helped her run to her employer’s and wouldn’t have allowed so much time to be taken, but she didn’t seem worried so he could only assume that she wasn’t worried about being late. Perhaps her employers were lenient? Perhaps she wasn’t expected till the morning? Even though he had distaste for all aristocrats he knew deep down not every single one was terrible, some were decent people and weren’t so domineering over there servants. When she asked about Bahro’s he shook his head, seeming quite positive about the answer he was going to give “Oh those are just stories. I have roamed the forests of Kadish for years and have never seen such a creature. They are just to frighten foolish people away from the forest at night”

“People may say they once inhabited Uru but there has never been any evidence of them and the only people who would know for certain are dead” Atrus and Yeesha would have known if they existed he was sure, but they were no longer around to ask. Hawke though honestly felt Bahro’s did not exist, he was certain he would have seen one by now, he had been in the forests of Kadish at night plenty of times. As they turned onto a street of homes he looked down the row of giant mansions then to her “Which is your employer’s? The one with the golden fountain or perhaps the one with the diamond gargoyles?” He said with a teasing tone and chuckle.
